The House of Heritage

House of character in the heart of the medieval city, the House of Heritage presents archaeological and ethnographical collections which testify to the Béarnais traditions in the XIXth and the XXth centuries.
The visit permits the discovery of objetcs found at the occasion of different excavations lead near the cathedral or in the surroundings of Oloron Sainte-Marie, dating from Prehistory and Antiquity.
A ground-floor room presents a traditional bearnese kitchen overlooking a reconstitution of a medieval garden.
Upstairs, the wood panelling room presents the textile industry in Oloron Sainte-Marie.
The second room evokes a more mineral world while the last room, recently inaugurated, directs the Gallo-Roman universe, from ceramic crockery to building materials.
The last floor is dedicated to an exhibition about the Gurs Camp.
