Do you know that it takes between 150 and 200 crocus flowers to get 1 gram of saffron powder ? In this little village of Estos, a stone’s throw from Oloron, come and find about saffron-making, where Derry hand-pickes all the flowers.
Apart from dyeing material, hair tinting, and wall painting... saffron also has medicinal properties.
And don’t forget cooking, where it is used in lots of different ways: saffron rice, jam... The only saffron production in Bearn !
