Itinerary 1
Estos : Seigneurie Labat (last residence of Pierre Jéliote, 1713 – 1797, an opera singer in the court of Louis XV). Filatriolle Château and Dupeyrou Château. Small ancient bridges. Mills. The port of Estos on the way to the « Mâture” and sand pit on the banks of the Gave d’Oloron.
Lédeuix : château inhabited by a designer and a furniture restorer. Church with listed retable.
Verdets : pool for young fish and salmon hatcheries on the banks of the Gave. The Maison Couloume half-timbered house where “Myrtille Création”, a clothing design workshop, si set up in the centre of the village. Doors from the XVIIth century. Fountain (road to Poey). Laffore well that can be visited on request to the owner on site.
Poey d’Oloron : Poey beach with its amazingly sandy banks. Church overlooking the village (ask the villagers for the keys). Courses on fatted duck processing (Domaine Pédelaborde).
Saucède : authentic village by the river Gave d’Oloron (pool for salmon). Church with a wood retable of the XVIIth century (open every day). Remains of mills.
Aren : Aren beach. Wash house. Pigeon house. XVth – XVIIth century château. Private ownership. Typical ancient houses. Small animals and fowls can be seen from the road.
